Work with me

Dementia care — it starts with you

We can't change the person with dementia.
We can only change the way we care for them.

So much dementia training starts with the disease — the stages, the symptoms, what's going wrong in the brain. I start somewhere different: with the person in the caring role. Because the most powerful thing in the room isn't a technique or a medication — it's the carer, and their willingness to adapt.

How I can help

Three ways to work together

Consulting

One-on-one with families, in the home or by call. We look at what's actually happening, read what the behaviour is telling us, and build practical routines that bring relief — calmer afternoons, smoother care, fewer battles.

Training

For care teams and aged-care organisations. Warm, plain-language education built on decades in specialist dementia units — training that changes what staff do on the very next shift.

Speaking

Keynotes and sessions for conferences, community groups and provider events. Real stories, real tools, and a message people carry home: you are more capable than you feel.

The framework

The Path of Connection™

My framework for families and care teams. It's really about learning to understand yourself — because the change has to start with us. Three pillars, standing on one foundation:

1.

Understanding

Understanding what's happening in the brain and why behaviour and awareness change — and, just as importantly, understanding yourself.

2.

Adapting

Changing your own approach. Being the change. Meeting your loved one where they are, rather than trying to pull them back to where you are.

3.

Sustaining

Protecting yourself and the relationship for the long road. Caring for someone else takes ongoing self-care — keep your own oxygen mask on.

IT STARTS WITH YOU
Readiness · bravery · the choice to change.
Before any technique, the first step is a willingness to look at yourself and change your own approach. Everything else stands on this.

"It doesn't take the tough times away — it brings calmer days, steadier routines, and moments of real joy along the way."
